    Time Event
    12:47p
    Gone so long...

I have been so absent from LJ lately it's ridonculous, I don't even remember when I last wrote an entry (sure I could go back and look, but I'm not gonna) I've been reading your entries, but haven't really been commenting, sorry, I've just been so apathetic lately. :/

Anyway, I'll start with Halloween here at Mercyhurst.Oh! But before I forget,

[info]otakuwench, I NEED to see pictures of you as Elphaba!

    For serious.

Okay, on Friday I hung out with my friend Amber, her roommate Cindy, and their friend Brie (not sure about that spelling...) and we watched The Texas Chainsaw Massacre remake which was fun, since we just made fun of it. Then we watched a little Rent and some of their school's production of Grease in which Amber played Jan (the one who does the "Brush 'em, brush 'em, brush 'em" song with the beaver on TV in the movie and suggests that they eat twinkies with wine) and Cindy worked on stage crew and costumes. Then Amber and I got into our costumes for the "Monster Mash" in the student union. I brought up mr Freddy Krueger glove and sweatshirt in case I didn't have my Salad Fingers stuff yet, so I went as him and Cindy did my make-up with lipstick, dark foundation, and eyeshadow. It came out pretty good too! Amber didn't have a costume but they were able to put together a great Pink Ladies outfit for her.

    Here's me and Amber:

And our designers, Cindy and Brie:

I have to give a little background on the next story: My room (Me, Jon, Andy, Tim, Ben, and Ryan) are friends with a room in the girls' building, Beth, Becky, Meagan, Keela, and Michelle. We just became friends pretty quickly, so if I ever say "The Girls' Room" I'm talking about their room.

Anyway, at the Monster Mash we met the Girls' Room and they had dressed as the Spice Girls:

    From left to right: Posh=Beth, Sporty=Michelle, Ginger=Becky, Scary=Keela, and Baby=Meagan

They won first prize for best costumes!

Saturday night was the "Haunted 'Hurst Tour" and I went, but no one else I knew did. On the tour we first learned that Mercyhurst was once ranked as one of the top 10 most haunted places in Pennsylvania! I was so excited because I've always wanted to see a ghost and now I'm living in a haunted school! Hopefully I'll see a spirit before I graduate. Anyway, the buildings were decorated like a normal haunted trail and there were a few jumpy moments, but overall not too scary. As we went through the tour we learned the real ghost stories of the campus.

The first one was "The Ring" which was about a young girl whose fiance went to war. While he was gone she got a letter saying he had died. Heartbroken she decided to join the convent at Mercyhurst, but kept her wedding ring with her. Once the war ended, however, it turned out that there had been a mistake and her fiance had not died. She did not revoke her vows, but she placed her ring on a statue of Mary and committed suicide. Later a stuent found the ring on the statue and started wearing it. The next weekend when her boyfriend was supposed to come pick her up to bring her home he crashed his car and was killed. She had heard the rumors about the ring and hadn't believed them, but after her boyfriend's death she put the ring back on the statue. We don't know what happened to the ring after that, if it was lost or if, as some believe, the school locked it away to prevent any more accidents. Supposedly there is still a mark on the statue where the ring was, but I went to see the statue a few days later and it had been painted over.

The next story was "The Smoking Nun". This one is a friendly spirit though. There was a spot near Old Main where the nuns could go to smoke and one nun, who I guess was a chain smoker, went there a lot. After her death students have said that they've seen her in the same spot smoking. One student even claims to have had a conversation with her.

There was another nun suicide story, but I couldn't really hear it because I was at the back of the line at that point and there was a lot of noise.

The church up the hill from our school is the church where the exorcism that the book and movie "The Exorcist" are based on.

The park in front of the Marian grotto used to have a pond. Once a nun fell into it and even though the other nuns she was with tried to pull her out they said it felt like she was being pulled under and she drowned. Later when they drained the pond to have it filled in they didn't find her remains, but they did find many domestic animal skeletons that they believe were used for pagan rituals.

Then the tour was over. It was a lot of fun, I really liked it.

Then on the actual day of Halloween when we went trick-or-treating I did have my Salad Fingers stuff. Unfortunately, I have no pictures from that night. We got a really late start, I think we wnet out at 7:30 and trick-or-treating ended at 8. We got a few people after 8 though who were still handing out candy. Oh, "we" is our room, the girls' room, and two guys from across the hall, whose names I don't remember. They went as conjoined twins, Ryan used my Freddy outfit, Tim was Zorro on prom night, Ben taped garbage to himself and was white trash, Jon was Jason Voorhees, and, since Meagan was sick, Andy was Baby Spice. Thankfully, I have no pictures of that!

So we got back to our room and the girls except Becky went to bed, Andy stayed in their room because he and Beth like each other, Tim, Ben, and Ryan went to a party at Gannon, and Becky, Jon, and I watched the Halloween marathon on AMC.

So...other stuff has been going on but since this is a super long post already, I'll save it for another time!
