HE'S GONE!!

I just need to post an entry, however short, to comemmorate that Jon Naylor, my least favorite roommate, who smells like rotting meat because he no longer showers but just smokes pot and sleeps, IS GONE!!

YYYYYYYYYYYYYAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

He moved out this morning and we are all so happy! Tim actually woke up this morning singing a little ditty about "Naylor's gone, no more Naylor in our room" and impromptu lyrics of that nature.

What a lovely day, and tomorrow we will be cleaning to remove any last smell of him from the room.

Just stuff

So I haven't posted a real entry in a long time so I thought I'd catch everyone up on what I've been doing since my last post.

Christmas

At Mercyhurst:
I had a very nice Christmas. On December. . . 5th, I think it was, I participated in "Christmas on Campus" which is something Mercyhurst does where all the clubs and organizations plan activities for kids from the Mercy House (a place the Sisters of Mercy, Mercyhurst's founders, run for abused women and children) and some other place, maybe it was an orphanage, I can't remember. Anyways, the clubs organize crafts and games for the kids and then Santa Claus comes, reads the kids a story (I think it was "The Night Before Christmas"), and gives them each a present. I'm not sure where the presents come from, if they're donated or if someone buys them, but they're nice presents. They aren't just generic trinkets or something; they're good toys. My club, the Art Education club, made mouse cookies with the kids. The cookie base was an Oreo which was twisted open and a chocolate-covered maraschino cherry was the body with a Hershey kiss for the head and two halves of a peanut for ears. They were really cute but for the beginning of the day we didn't have the chocolate, which meant the peanuts couldn't stick to the heads and they looked nothing like mice. I'm very proud to say that I came up with two new designs, a snowman and a penguin, which gave the kids stuff to do until Denny got there with the chocolate. It was a great time.

We also exchanged gifts in my room and with my other friends. For my roommates I got:
Andy: A sewn drawing of a Fox brand sweater, because I made something like that for my "New Idea" project in Drawing I last term and he really liked it, so I made him one for his favorite brand.
Ben: The Who's "Tommy" because he said it was the only musical he ever liked.
Ryan: I made him a little unicycle ornament because he loves unicycling, and I got him this cup thing that makes frothy toppings for your hot drinks.
Tim: Cigars, because smoking cigars and smoking pot are pretty much the only things he does and I sure as heck wasn't getting him pot.
Jon: "The Lizzie McGuire Movie" because he told me he loved her. . . but apparently wasn't serious because he was pretty upset when he opened it.
For my other friends I got:
Amanda: Amber and I went in together on a game for her wii
Meagan: A "Crochet-a-day" calendar, where each day has a new pattern, because she loves crocheting
Beth: A cake decorating kit that she saw on TV and wanted and Meagan got her frosting, cake mix, and sprinkles
Amber: Burned copies of "The Secret Garden" and "Legally Blonde: the Musical"
I wanted to get something for Tom too, but I ran out of time and money.

And from my friends I got:
Andy & Beth: A mini Lite Brite
Ben, Ryan, Tim, & Jon: A fish and a collection of those claymation Christmas movies on DVD
Meagan: A crocheted stocking filled with candy and "Anything Goes" on DVD
Amanda: A card and some stickers, since she's really broke
Amber: A card and a stuffed reindeer

Oh, and here's a picture of me, Meagan, and Amber with Santa at "Chrismahanakwaanzaka" (I find that title to be disrespectful to those three holidays, rather than honoring them, but whatever) where there was cookie decorating, crafting, gift-wrapping, Christmas music, and awesome hot chocolate. And, obviously, pictures with Santa:

I don't know why, but every time I scanned this it came out dark and green-tinted.

At Home:
I rode the bus home! It was scary at first but ended up being really easy, so I'll definitely do it again. I listened to 1-11-05 Shoshana/Jennifer on my ipod for the whole ride and it finished just about a minute before we pulled into Zelienople where my mom was waiting for me.

Christmas at home was nice. I went to the Semi with Steph which was unexpected and fun. The only bad thing about it, though, is that we (all our friends) went back to Steph's house afterwards like we always do, but now her brother has friends too and I miss when we would be the only ones in the house.

We went to midnight mass for probably the last time. I used to like it, but these last two years I was just tired and missed going to mass on Christmas morning and my mom felt the same way, so we'll be going on Christmas morning this year like we used to when Stephen and I were younger.

On Christmas we waited for Stephen to get to the house and when he did we had a great breakfast and opened our gifts. Among my best gifts were:
Supernatural Season 2 from Stephen
The High School Musical 2 soundtrack and Legally Blonde OBCR from my mom
A nice shirt from my dad

Then we just kinda hung around the house until it was time to go to Aunt Carol's for the family party. This was the first year we didn't do a Secret Santa so Aunt Cathy brought a game that she played with her Sunday school class where we all were in a circle and were given a cup with wrapping paper over the top. Then she read a story and every time she said the word "right" you had to pass the cup to the right, and every time she said the word "left" you had to pass the cup to the left. At the end of the story you opened the cup you had and got whatever you had in it. They all had those scratch-away lottery tickets and I also got the special cup which had a ticket and five dollars in it. Most of the tickets lost, but a few of them were winners. The party was fun and we all had a nice time. It would have been nicer if it hadn't been so darn sunny, but it's okay.

The next day all the cousins went to Sears to take a group picture for our papa's birthday later this month:

It's low-quality because the previews on the site are only teeny little thumbnails. Here's who we are:
Standing row: Marissa, Carla, Peter, Richard, Brian, Sam, and Maria
Kneeling/Sitting row: Me, Dominic, Alaina, Stephen (my brother), and Eric
Front row: Tony, Angela, and PJ

And our little Geneology:
Nana and Papa's kids were Cathy, Cindy, Ricky, Carol, and Pete
Cathy + Mark = Alaina and Marissa (adopted)
Cindy + Steve = Stephen and Me
Ricky + Liz = Peter, Richard, and Sam
Carol + Bob = Brian, Eric, and Carla
Pete + Linda = Maria, PJ, Tony, Angela, and Dominic

New Year's
I went to Kathleen's New Year's Eve party where we watched High School Musical 2!! Everyone but me, and maybe Jenny, hated it but it was sooo awesome! At midnight we all drank sparkling cider, non-alcoholic of course. I don't even know if sparkling cider comes in alcoholic varieties, I think that's the point of it, o be like "underage champagne". Anyway we downed most of it straight from the bottle, 'cause we're bamfs like that, except for Kathleen who is a terrible germaphobe and drank hers from her own bottle and glass. Then we sang karaoke for a while, after which some people watched "Rush Hour 3" and I went to sleep.

The next morning, New Year's day, we left at different times and didn't see much of each other because everyone had other places they had to be.

I went home and started packing up because I had to catch the Greyhound back to Erie the next day. Around 4:30 I went to Aunt Carol's for her New Year's party. We ate lamb, beef, spaghetti, kielbasa, and Christmas Cookies. We looked through old pictures and played cards for most of the night.

Back to School
The next day I caught the Greyhound back to Erie. When we made a small stop in Meadville I looked out my dirty window and was looking at the people who had gotten off for a smoke break and I thought I saw Jon and Meagan. I texted Meagan and asked her if she and Jon were in Meadville and she replied that they were. We were on the same bus and didn't even realize it! How cool is that? So when they got back on I moved from my seat to sit with them and we talked for a while before settling down and trying to sleep some more before getting to Erie. When we did we called for a cab to take us back to the school and rode together.

And now I've been back for a week and a half, though it feels MUCH longer.

Walkin' in a Winter Wonderland

Last night was very nice. I had dinner with Tom and Amanda, and Meagan and Cindy surprised us (pleasantly) with their presence. After dinner Amanda and I went to Meagan's apartment to hang out. We watched some Christmas movie on ABC Family called "Snow" which was pretty crappy. Amanda left because she was sleepy so Meagan and I watched the next movie called "Santa Baby" which was surprisingly good. Not a classic by any means, but entertaining enough. While we watched Meagan taught me how to crochet and I made a crappy little wreath ornament. When the movie was done we went outside to meet my roommate Jon and he and Meagan smoked and we just talked. It was snowing, but not good snow, it was like hard little pellets, rather than flakes. When they finished their cigarettes we went to fix some of the decorations in the park that had been blown around by the wind. After that Jon went back to our apartment and Meagan and I went back to hers so she could finish crocheting her stocking, after which we went to my apartment where everyone was watching "Transformers" She left after the movie and I went to bed shortly after.

Today I woke up and it was snowing balls. By now it has stopped and there's about a foot and a half of snow! I can't wait until my meeting tonight is over so I can play in it! The only bad thing is it's the lame powdery snow, not the awesome packing snow.

Gone so long...

I have been so absent from LJ lately it's ridonculous, I don't even remember when I last wrote an entry (sure I could go back and look, but I'm not gonna) I've been reading your entries, but haven't really been commenting, sorry, I've just been so apathetic lately. :/

Anyway, I'll start with Halloween here at Mercyhurst.Oh! But before I forget,

[info]otakuwench, I NEED to see pictures of you as Elphaba!

For serious.

Okay, on Friday I hung out with my friend Amber, her roommate Cindy, and their friend Brie (not sure about that spelling...) and we watched The Texas Chainsaw Massacre remake which was fun, since we just made fun of it. Then we watched a little Rent and some of their school's production of Grease in which Amber played Jan (the one who does the "Brush 'em, brush 'em, brush 'em" song with the beaver on TV in the movie and suggests that they eat twinkies with wine) and Cindy worked on stage crew and costumes. Then Amber and I got into our costumes for the "Monster Mash" in the student union. I brought up mr Freddy Krueger glove and sweatshirt in case I didn't have my Salad Fingers stuff yet, so I went as him and Cindy did my make-up with lipstick, dark foundation, and eyeshadow. It came out pretty good too! Amber didn't have a costume but they were able to put together a great Pink Ladies outfit for her.

Here's me and Amber:

And our designers, Cindy and Brie:

I have to give a little background on the next story: My room (Me, Jon, Andy, Tim, Ben, and Ryan) are friends with a room in the girls' building, Beth, Becky, Meagan, Keela, and Michelle. We just became friends pretty quickly, so if I ever say "The Girls' Room" I'm talking about their room.

Anyway, at the Monster Mash we met the Girls' Room and they had dressed as the Spice Girls:

From left to right: Posh=Beth, Sporty=Michelle, Ginger=Becky, Scary=Keela, and Baby=Meagan

They won first prize for best costumes!

Saturday night was the "Haunted 'Hurst Tour" and I went, but no one else I knew did. On the tour we first learned that Mercyhurst was once ranked as one of the top 10 most haunted places in Pennsylvania! I was so excited because I've always wanted to see a ghost and now I'm living in a haunted school! Hopefully I'll see a spirit before I graduate. Anyway, the buildings were decorated like a normal haunted trail and there were a few jumpy moments, but overall not too scary. As we went through the tour we learned the real ghost stories of the campus.

The first one was "The Ring" which was about a young girl whose fiance went to war. While he was gone she got a letter saying he had died. Heartbroken she decided to join the convent at Mercyhurst, but kept her wedding ring with her. Once the war ended, however, it turned out that there had been a mistake and her fiance had not died. She did not revoke her vows, but she placed her ring on a statue of Mary and committed suicide. Later a stuent found the ring on the statue and started wearing it. The next weekend when her boyfriend was supposed to come pick her up to bring her home he crashed his car and was killed. She had heard the rumors about the ring and hadn't believed them, but after her boyfriend's death she put the ring back on the statue. We don't know what happened to the ring after that, if it was lost or if, as some believe, the school locked it away to prevent any more accidents. Supposedly there is still a mark on the statue where the ring was, but I went to see the statue a few days later and it had been painted over.

The next story was "The Smoking Nun". This one is a friendly spirit though. There was a spot near Old Main where the nuns could go to smoke and one nun, who I guess was a chain smoker, went there a lot. After her death students have said that they've seen her in the same spot smoking. One student even claims to have had a conversation with her.

There was another nun suicide story, but I couldn't really hear it because I was at the back of the line at that point and there was a lot of noise.

The church up the hill from our school is the church where the exorcism that the book and movie "The Exorcist" are based on.

The park in front of the Marian grotto used to have a pond. Once a nun fell into it and even though the other nuns she was with tried to pull her out they said it felt like she was being pulled under and she drowned. Later when they drained the pond to have it filled in they didn't find her remains, but they did find many domestic animal skeletons that they believe were used for pagan rituals.

Then the tour was over. It was a lot of fun, I really liked it.

Then on the actual day of Halloween when we went trick-or-treating I did have my Salad Fingers stuff. Unfortunately, I have no pictures from that night. We got a really late start, I think we wnet out at 7:30 and trick-or-treating ended at 8. We got a few people after 8 though who were still handing out candy. Oh, "we" is our room, the girls' room, and two guys from across the hall, whose names I don't remember. They went as conjoined twins, Ryan used my Freddy outfit, Tim was Zorro on prom night, Ben taped garbage to himself and was white trash, Jon was Jason Voorhees, and, since Meagan was sick, Andy was Baby Spice. Thankfully, I have no pictures of that!

So we got back to our room and the girls except Becky went to bed, Andy stayed in their room because he and Beth like each other, Tim, Ben, and Ryan went to a party at Gannon, and Becky, Jon, and I watched the Halloween marathon on AMC.

So...other stuff has been going on but since this is a super long post already, I'll save it for another time!
